Corrections to this site and its sister sites, each with the date, what we said, what is true, and the source. The wrong version is quoted so you can see exactly what changed.
The log begins on September 30, 2026.
This site says it is written to be checked. That is an easy thing to say and a harder thing to mean. A page that is checked will sometimes be found wrong, and a site that corrects itself quietly asks you to take on trust the very thing it says you should not have to. Being checked means being seen to be corrected.
So from September 30, 2026 every correction goes here, dated, with the sentence as it stood. The misattribution page asks institutes and writers to fix what Frankl did not say; it would be a strange page if we did not hold ourselves to the same rule. Our reference pages promise that an error will be "corrected on the page, with the date". This is where the date lives.
The log covers logotherapist.com and the sites in the same family that share its standard: logotherapists.com, transcendent.com and baptizedbuddhist.com. It also records corrections to our own unpublished reference notes when a public page was built from them. Style and spelling fixes are not logged; errors of fact, quotation and citation are.
| Date | Page | What we said | What is true | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sep 30, 2026 | misattributed.html, §4 | "Almost certainly false. This is asserted on Wikipedia. ICD-11 contains no such category." | ICD-11 does contain "Demoralization" (MB22.2), under MB22 "Symptoms or signs involving motivation or energy". It is a symptom or sign, defined as "loss of confidence in one's ability to cope, with associated feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and discouragement". It is not a diagnosis, is not called "demoralisation crisis" and makes no reference to Frankl or noögenic neurosis, so the Wikipedia claim is misleading rather than baseless. | ICD-11 for Mortality and Morbidity Statistics, MB22.2 "Demoralization". |
| Sep 30, 2026 | credentials.html, §2; logotherapists.com, lineages.html | GLE's training "is the one logotherapy-descended route that leads to state registration as a psychotherapist" in Austria, and "the most rigorous training in the family". | Both lineages have state-recognized routes in Austria. Besides GLE's Existenzanalyse, the Frankl lineage's Existenzanalyse und Logotherapie (EL) is taught by ABILE in Melk and the University for Continuing Education Krems, whose MSc (CE) runs four semesters, carries 120 ECTS, costs €15,600 and is recognized by the federal ministry (BMSGPK). The two are separate methods. See Austria's two routes. | UWK course page; Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna, training in Austria; GLE-Österreich, Psychotherapeutisches Fachspezifikum. |
| Sep 30, 2026 | logotherapy.html, §2 | Two quotations, on creative and experiential values and on attitudinal values, cited as "D&S, 3rd ed. (1986), Part V". | Both passages are in the Introduction of The Doctor and the Soul, not Part V. The citations now read "D&S, Introduction". | Frankl, The Doctor and the Soul, 3rd ed., Vintage, 1986: full text searched. |
| Sep 30, 2026 | begin.html, exercises.html, reading.html | "Frankl was a clinician, not a philosopher." | "Frankl was a clinician first." He held a medical doctorate and a second doctorate, Dr. phil., with a dissertation on The Unconscious God (the Vienna Institute gives 1948 and philosophy; the University of Vienna gives 1949 and psychology). | Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna, biography, 1948 entry. |
| Sep 30, 2026 | exercises.html; baptizedbuddhist.com, finding-your-why.html | exercises.html, with no attribution: "'He who has a why to live for can bear with almost any how.' That sentence is the foundation of logotherapy." finding-your-why.html: "He who has a why to live can bear with almost any how", cited to Man's Search for Meaning, Part II. | The line is Nietzsche's, quoted by Frankl. In Part II ("Noö-Dynamics") it reads "He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how", and Frankl calls it "a motto that holds true for any psychotherapy", not the foundation of logotherapy. "Why to live can bear with" is the wording of Gordon Allport's preface, not of Part II. Both pages now attribute the line and quote Part II. | Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, Washington Square Press, 1963: Preface by Gordon W. Allport; Part II, "Noö-Dynamics". |
| Sep 30, 2026 | why.html and deep.html | Sentences attributed to Frankl that he did not write, in the questions and in the readings shown at the end. | Removed. Where the idea is the site's own, it now stands in the site's own voice; where Frankl did say something close, his verified wording and its source replace the paraphrase. | Checked against the full texts of Man's Search for Meaning (1963) and The Doctor and the Soul (1986). |
| Sep 30, 2026 | Our reference notes (unpublished), from which credentials.html was built | Vienna accreditation costs "€50/US$70 per year" for individuals and €100/US$125 a year for institutes. | EUR 200 per two-year period for individuals (EUR 100 a year) and EUR 300 per two-year period for institutes (EUR 150 a year). The public page already gave these figures; the notes now agree with it. | Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna, accreditation guidelines for individuals and institutes (PDF). |
| Sep 30, 2026 | logotherapists.com, home page description | "196 bodies in 40 countries" | The directory's own data covered 48 countries at the time, not 40; after the recount and the addition of Bulgaria in the next entry, it covers 49. | The directory's data, logotherapists.com, September 30, 2026. |
| Sep 30, 2026 | credentials.html, sources; logotherapists.com | "196 bodies in 48 countries" | 193 bodies in 49 countries. The count was re-run against the data after the entries were re-checked, and the Bulgarian Association of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (Plovdiv), which the Vienna Institute lists, was missing and has been added. | Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna, institutes worldwide; the directory's data, September 30, 2026. |
| Sep 30, 2026 | transcendent.com, home page | "…four concentration camps, including Auschwitz, which took his parents, his brother and his pregnant wife and did not take his conclusion." | His father died in Theresienstadt; his mother and his brother were murdered in Auschwitz; his wife, Tilly, was moved to Bergen-Belsen and did not survive. She was not pregnant then: the Vienna Institute's biography records that the Nazis forced the couple to abort their child in 1941–42. | Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna, biography, entries for 1941–42, 1942, 1944 and 1945. |
| Sep 30, 2026 | baptizedbuddhist.com, right-livelihood.html; also the home page and writings.html | Of the five trades the Buddha told lay followers not to engage in, "I have worked in four of them." / "Four of the five." | Three. The five are trade in weapons, in living beings, in meat, in intoxicants and in poison, and the page's own tally counts three. The pages now say so. | Aṅguttara Nikāya 5.177, the Vaṇijjā Sutta; the tally on right-livelihood.html. |
| Sep 30, 2026 | baptizedbuddhist.com, finding-your-why.html | Jacob "marks the decision with a vow… That same night, he dreams of a ladder… The ladder doesn't appear until after he decides to aim up. That's the order the story insists on, and it isn't incidental." | In Genesis 28 the dream of the ladder (v. 12) comes first, and the vow (vv. 20–22) follows in the morning. The page now tells it in that order, and the sentence about the order has been removed. | Genesis 28:10–22. |
| Oct 1, 2026 | exercises.html, meta and social-sharing descriptions | "All of them work." | The page's own grades say otherwise. None of the six exercises has been tested in a trial; one is promising (Exercise v, after Morisano et al., 2010), three rest on Frankl's premise, and two have no source yet. The descriptions now say so. | The page itself: the evidence grade on each card, from Exercise i to Exercise vi, and the Evidence page, §8. |
Write to hello@logotherapist.com with the page and the sentence, and the source if you have one. If you are right, it is corrected on the page and logged here with the date. If we think you are wrong, we will say why.
